Mr. Herbert Edward Uppleger Jr.'s Obituary
Herbert Edward Uppleger Jr., age 90, of Marysville, died November 27, 2013. He was born September 10, 1923 in Detroit to the late Herbert Sr. and Mabel Uppleger. On July 27, 1946 Herb married Eliza Smith in St. Clair. She preceded him in death on January 22, 2003. Herb served with the U.S. Navy for five years aboard the USS Latimer during World War II and was on Midway Island during the invasion. Herb retired from Selfridge Air Force Base as a carpenter. He was an avid hunter and snowmobiler.
Herb is survived by his children; Herbert III (Carole) Uppleger, David (JoAnn) Uppleger and Linda Sharrard (Roger Myers), grandchildren; Cher (Larry) Fajardo, Tamara (Donald) Czarnecki, Carly (Matthew) Metsker and Jason (Amanda) Uppleger, 6 great grandchildren, sisters; Rita (Robert) Kapanka and Madeline Tomak and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday December 2nd at 12:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Committal service with military honors will follow at Rosehill Cemetery, East China Twp. Visiting hours are Sunday 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
