Harriet L. Lapich's Obituary
Mrs. Harriet Lapich, 88, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Medilodge of St. Clair. She had resided there for four years.
Born May 21, 1924 in Blue Earth, Minnesota, Harriet was the daughter of Stene and Winifred (Thorsen) Stangland. She grew up in Morris, Illinois and graduated from Morris High School in 1942.
On May 13, 1943 she married Russell E. Matteson. They lived most of their married life in Morris and later moved to Farmington, Michigan. He preceded her in death in 1967. She married Ken Clum in 1969 and they spent 10 years together. In 1982 Harriet married Richard Lapich and he preceded her in death in 1998.
Harriet was employed by First National Bank, Illinois Bell and Grundy County Extension in Morris and was later employed by Newhouse Newspapers in Michigan. She moved to East China after her retirement in 1987. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Clair. During retirement she enjoyed volunteering at River District Hospital, playing bridge with her many friends, and always enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy (Donald) Johnson of Morris, Illinois, and Marcia (Robert) Langtry of East China, Michigan. Four grandchildren; Kim Mann (Scott VanDuyne) and Craig Johnson of Morris, Illinois; Laurie (Mike) Gardner of St. Clair, and Tom Langtry of East China; four great grandchildren, Alexx Mann, Jordin Hay, and Libby and Ella Gardner; one brother, Gerald (Lois) Stangland of Sugar Grove, Illinois, and many nieces and nephews of Morris, Illinois.
Harriet was also preceded in death by her parents and three sisters; Edith (Wesley) Jorstad, Shirley (Claude) Heap, and Charlotte (Lewis) Johnson.
A memorial service will be held in her hometown in Illinois.
