Mr. Glen E. McBride's Obituary
Glen E. McBride, age 64, of East China passed away Saturday May 18, 2013. He was born to the late Iva Dell and Calvin McBride on December 6, 1948 in Morganfield, Kentucky, and moved to Marine City in 1962. He graduated from Marine City Holy Cross High School in 1967, and went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree from Central Michigan University in 1971.
On August 14, 1970, Glen married Judith Comment at Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Catholic church in Anchorville, Mich.
Glen was a CPA and started his own accounting firm in 1974. That firm grew to become McBride-Manley & Company, P.C., located in Marine City.
Glen was very active in the local community, and was well respected by many people. Community was very important to him. He was: member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants; trustee for the Marine City Scholarship Fund; trustee for the Community Foundation of St. Clair County; past director of the Marine City Chamber of Commerce; past director of the Holy Cross Educational Fund; past director Downriver Community Services; past director of Algonac Savings Bank; past director of the Marine City Festival.
Glen loved fly fishing, watching Tigers baseball and tinkering with old cars. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Glen is survived by his wife of 42 years, Judith McBride; his three sons, Glen (Tara), Matt (Alison), and Curtis (Angela) McBride, and nine grandchildren, Hannah, Nathan, Abby, Andrew, Lydia, Caleb, Audrey, Brady, and Lainey McBride, brother; Donald (Mary) McBride and sister; Mary (Glenn) McKenzie.
Visiting hours are Wednesday May 22nd 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. and Thursday 11:00 to 12:00 at Our Lady on the River Parish, Holy Cross Church. The funeral mass will be Thursday at 12:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Rosehill Cemetery.
