Glaspie Wilson (Bob) Blake's Obituary
We are sad to announce the death of Glaspie Wilson (Bob) Blake who passed away at home with his loving wife Delores Blake (Detroyer) and surrounded by his adoring family. Bob was born March 13, 1927, to the late Charles and Ethel Blake in Moundsville, WV. Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He later moved to Michigan where he met his wife, Delores. They got married on October 25, 1952. Bob was a tree trimmer before he went on to work for Semco energy for 25 years. Following his retirement, he and Delores moved up to Lewiston, MI where he enjoyed his time on Big Wolf Lake for over 10 years. In his spare time, Bob loved gardening, working in his yard and fishing.
Bob won’t be walking into the eternal gates of Heaven alone he will be met by his son Bobby Blake, granddaughter Kristle Jovanovich and Son-in-Law Mike Jovanovich along with many other loving family/friends he influenced in his 95 years.
Bob is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dolores; children, Tom (Debbie) Blake, Ron (Holly) Blake, Cathy (Greg) McCleary, Karen Moore, Linda (Richard) Turke and Lisa (Gene) Boyte-- along with his 17 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his son, Robert Blake.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, August 24th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clair. Visitation will also be Wednesday, from 9:30-10:30am at Young Funeral Home, China Twp., before processing to church for mass. Interment and military honors will take place at St. Michaels Cemetery, Richmond. Memorial contributions can be made out to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
