Gerald R. McKellar's Obituary
Gerald R. McKellar, age 85, of Marine City, died September 28, 2009.
Gerald was born December 31, 1923 to Hazel and Clayton McKellar in Marine City.
Gerald married Marion Tesch on May 1, 1948 in St. Peters Lutheran Church, Fair Haven, Mich.
He served his country well both in the European and Pacific war theaters from 1941 to 1945 receiving an honorable discharge from Army Engineers.
Gerald was a member of the Marine City United Methodist Church, lifetime member of S. Ward Masonic Lodge #62, Valley of Detroit, and a life member of VFW Post #3901.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Marion, daughter Deborah (Dennis) VanTiem, son David (Patricia) McKellar, grandchildren, Ryan (Kelly) VanTiem of Rochester Hills, Jordan VanTiem of Washington DC, Brett VanTiem of Kalamazoo, Holly (Jeff) Stackpoole of Roseville, Beth Ann (John) Klos of Chesterfield, Chelsey, Gretchen, and D.J. McKellar all of Marine City.
Three great grandchildren, Duncan and Amelia Klos of Chesterfield Twp. and Claire VanTiem of Rochester Hills.
Foster sisters; Margaret Frank and Amelia Hall.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Jerri Lynn McCollister and grandson Christopher McCollister.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Young Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, China Twp. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Marine City. Visiting hours are Wednesday 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Thursday 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. A masonic service will be held Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Marine City United Methodist Church Organ Fund.
