Gerald Clifford Purdie's Obituary
Gerald Clifford Purdie, age 94, of Port Huron, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2024. He was born and raised in Grosse Pointe. Gerald was born on October 21, 1929 to the late Charles and Blanche Purdie. Gerald honorably served in the National Guard for 2 years. He was a man with a great work ethic. He worked as a carpenter his whole life. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed playing his saxophone and sailing. He will always be remembered as a story teller, and he will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his children, Donald Ray “Butch” (Kathy) Purdie, Donna Belinda (Bobby) Purdie-Hidle, Jarold Michael (Sharon) Purdie; step children, James Patrick Meisner, Susette Loree (Tony) Conard, Tanja Jo Meisner, Debora Lynne Hutchins; grandchildren, Shawn & Andrea Purdie, Justin & Yvonne Purdie, Amanda Shanahan, Janada Laforest, Patrick & Dawn Wetzel, Christopher (Angie) Wetzel, Kevin Hutchins, Kristie & Jim Binnall, as well as several special great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Lindig; wife of 44 years, Dorla Ileen Purdie; daughter, Jo Lynne Willey, and granddaughters, Jenni Purdie and Corinne Meisner.
A graveside service will take place on Friday, September 6th at 10:30 a.m. at Christy Chapel Cemetery, Portage Twp., OH. Where he will be laid to rest next to his wife, Dorla. To leave a message of comfort visit www.youngcolonial.com
