Gerald P. Osterland's Obituary
Gerald P. Osterland, age 85, of China Twp., died June 6, 2017. He was born December 9, 1931, to the late William and Alice Osterland in China Twp. Gerald married Callie Jones on June 25, 1983. She preceded him in death in 2010.
Gerald honorably served his country with the U.S. Army. He worked on the Great Lakes for one year and later worked for GM Truck and Coach in Pontiac for over 30 years. Gerald also farmed for many years, which was a labor of love. He also enjoyed many years of golf and was a longtime member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Ira Twp.
Gerald is survived by his children, James (Carman) Osterland, Nancy (Derick) Gindlesperger, Ronald (Brenda) Spangler and William (Debbie) Spangler; grandchildren, Samantha, Geoffrey, Kayla, Ryan, Nicholas, Brandon, Jessica, Brian and Cynthia; five great grandchildren, siblings, Leslie (Barbara) Osterland, William (Lynette) Osterland, Ruth Fessenden, Donald Osterland and Bernard (Tracy) Osterland; sisters in law, Jeanette Osterland, Jean Brown and Jenny Jones. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Endres and brothers, Melvin, Edmund, Elmer, and Wilfred Osterland.
Funeral service will be Saturday June 10th at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Ira Twp. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Marine City. Visiting hours are Thursday 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday 2 to 8 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. and Saturday 10 to 11 a.m. at church prior to service.
