Gerald "Jerry" Heath's Obituary
Gerald “Jerry” Heath, age 96, of East China Twp., passed away March 10, 2021. He was born November 24, 1924 in Marine City to the late Ward and Lucille Heath.
Jerry graduated from Marine City High School. He married Virginia “Jinny” Horn on June 2, 1945. She preceded him in death in 2009. Jerry’s 47 year working career as a model maker started at Chris Craft then Ford Motor Company and later working and retiring from General Motors. Jerry, an avid bowler, was also a lifetime member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, member of K of C Council #856, Marine City and the Marine City Old Newsboys. Because of his generous gifts of time and talents he was a proud Honorary Alumni of Holy Cross School. Jerry also gave of his time years ago to Marine City Little League maintaining the fields and running the concessions. As an advanced woodworker and precision carpenter many family, friends and organizations benefitted from Jerry’s generosity.
He is survived by his sons; Gerald A. “Jerry” (Rita) Heath, Thomas C. (Ellen) Heath, Randy (Judy) Heath and Don (Nickie) Heath; grandchildren, Amy (Rob) Patterson, Lynn (Paul) Stephens, Jerry (Amy) Heath, Bill (Michelle) Heath, Tesa (Dave) Nicolanti, Steffane (Dan) McClary, Trevor (Jocelyn) Heath and Crystal Heath; great grandchildren, Meghan (Adam) Jensen, Tiffani (Ryan) O’Neill, Tyler Patterson, Olivia, Allie, Zach and Emma Stephens, Ashleigh and Jessica Heath, Wills (Bobby) Heath, Elizabeth (Josh) Heath Marshall, Jamie and Ronnie Heath, Jules and Bella McClary and Kora and Logan Nicolanti; great-great grandson, Heath O’Neill; brother in law, Donald Horn; sister in law, Diane (Larry) Woodward; many nieces and nephews including 2 special nieces, Janet Wiltshire (was like the daughter he never had) and Marsha Heath and good friend and gambling buddy Marianne Ahles.
Jerry was preceded in death by his grandson, Thomas Heath Jr.; siblings, Iva (George) Guyor and Carl (Liz) Heath; In-laws, Helen (Lloyd) McClellan, Dorothy (Ralph) Brotherton, Bob (Janet) Horn, Jim (Punk) Horn and Agnes Horn.
A funeral service will be held Saturday March 13th at 11:00 a.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Visiting hours are Friday 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday prior to service.
