George J. Verhaeghe's Obituary
George J. Verhaeghe, age 88, of China Twp. passed away peacefully on December 13, 2022. He was born September 10, 1934 in Belgium to the late Jerome and Regina Verhaeghe. George married the love of his life Leona Goddyn on October 13, 1962 and she preceded him in death on November 9, 2020.
George in his younger years served in the Belgian army for 4 years, afterwards moved to Canada and a short time later to the United States. He was a long-time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Clair. George loved to travel to all different parts of the world, always had a fascination of airplanes and was a long-time member of F.O.T.A. (Friends of the Airport) where he has met many wonderful people and made some great friends.
He is survived by his children, Dale (Karen) Verhaeghe, Jack Verhaeghe, Denise Verhaeghe, Dave (Kristina) Verhaeghe; grandchildren, great grandchildren; siblings, Joseph Verhaeghe, Maria De Prince, Gerard Verhaeghe.
George is preceded in death by his brother, Andre and sister Antonette.
