Mr. George Paul Schudlich III's Obituary
George Paul Schudlich II, age 86, of Port Huron, Michigan, died peacefully Sunday May 3, 2015 in the Masonic Pathways Home of Alma, Michigan care center surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born May 16, 1928 to the late George Paul and Elizabeth Lake Schudlich in Detroit, Michigan. George married Phyllis Marie Schroeder on September 27, 1952 in Saint Martin’s Lutheran Church, Marine City, Michigan. Phyllis preceded him in death on October 24, 2010. They were married for 58 years.
George graduated from Anchor Bay High School, Hathaway Institute, University of Michigan School of Real Estate, Graduate Realtors Institute (GRI), and was a member Realtors Alumni of Michigan. George was a Past Director of the Macomb County Board of Realtors and The Eastern Detroit Realty Assoc. George served on Clay Township and East China Building and Zoning Boards as well as The Intermediate School District of St. Clair County Parents Advisory Board.
George was also a long standing member of the Algonac Optimist Club. He was a lifetime member and past vestryman of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, Marine City. George was a member of S Ward Lodge #62 F. & A.M. for more than 56 years. He was also a member of The Valley of the Detroit Scottish Rite and proud recipient of the Meritorious Red Hat. He was also a lifetime member of the Detroit Moslem Shrine.
To all who knew him George brought his gift of storytelling wherever he went. His life’s work was to serve others through a combination of encouragement and lively conversations. George enjoyed a long and commended career in commercial and residential real estate. At the age of 14 he began working side by side with his father listing and selling properties from New Baltimore to Port Huron, retiring in 2008. For over six decades it was the art of putting the deal together that made him whistle his favorite tune “Oh Danny Boy”
George is survived by his children; George P. Schudlich III, James M. Schudlich (Shelley); his grandchildren, Daniel G. Schudlich and Megan M. Schudllich; sisters, Anne E. Reuter, Bethany C. Burden (Dean) and many nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his brother, Paul G. Schudlich and sister, Janet L. Abdelnauer.
Visitation, Memorial and Masonic Services will be held Wednesday May 13, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, 4061 St. Clair Hwy. East China, MI 48054. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, New Baltimore, Mich.
A second Memorial Service will be held Thursday May 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Masonic Pathways Church, 1200 Wright Ave., Alma, Mich. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made to Michigan Masonic Pathways or Shriners Hospital for Children.
