George Hoemke Jr.'s Obituary
George Hoemke Jr. age 77, of St. Clair formerly of Sterling Heights, passed away unexpectedly January 14, 2025. He was born September 10, 1947, in Berkley, Michigan to the late George and Evelyn Hoemke Sr. George married Grace Krause on August 12, 1989, in Sterling Heights at Dodge Park.
George was a very hard and dedicated worker; he worked in the Tool and Die industry retiring after 32 years and enjoyed another 15 years while in retirement.
He was an avid bowler, enjoyed scratch off tickets, driving around his 1980 El Camino, and was a clean freak. Above all George cherished the time with his family and always made it a point to make it to all his grandchildren’s sporting events and taking care of anyone anytime someone needed help with something.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years Grace; sons, Jason Hoemke, Greg Wetherington; grandchildren, Benny Hoemke, Jake Hoemke, Gracie Wetherington; siblings, Kathy (Dan) Austin, Linda Scalzi, Beverly Brown, Nancy Hoemke, John Hoemke, Mike Hoemke, Janet Todoroff, Jeanne (Tony) Valdes, Judy (Tom) Canfield along with several nieces and nephews.
George is preceded in death by his sister, Connie (Phil) Woodcox.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 25, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. with visitation from 2:00 p.m. until time of service. Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family. To leave a message of comfort visit www.youngcolonial.com
