Gayle Suzanne "Sue" Bigger's Obituary
Gayle Suzanne “Sue” Bigger, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, was called home to be with the Lord on August 23, 2025, passing peacefully at home. Born on April 16, 1947, in Chatham, Ontario, Canada, to Mary and Joseph Normandin, Sue cherished returning there every summer to spend time with family. At 10, she moved to St. Clair, where she made her lifelong home. She graduated from St. Clair High School in 1965 and married the love of her life, Butch Bigger, on February 19, 1972. She retired from TI Automotive in 2007.
Sue lived her life with a heart wide open—funny, kind, and truly a friend to all. Her greatest joy was her family, and she dedicated herself to giving them the very best life possible. She taught us to laugh, work hard, love deeply, and to keep our faith strong through every season of life. Her generosity and compassion reflected the love of Christ that she carried within her.
A woman of faith and service, she gave freely of her time and love. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She also enjoyed bowling on Tuesday nights and treasured the company of her dear group of friends every Saturday.
Sue is survived by her daughters, Sheila LaCroix, Shelly LaCroix, and Kelly (Chris) Russell; her granddaughters, Brooke (Jordan Griffor) Zimmer, Kelsey, Kaitlyn, and Kylie Russell; and her great-granddaughter, Stevie Griffor. She is also survived by her siblings, Joanne Suisse, John (Kelly) Normandin, Jan (Tom) Biscarner, and Chris Normandin; her sisters- and brothers-in-law, Kay (Bob) Laird, Jackie (Ken) Rands, Todd Bigger, and Susie (Tom) Schweihofer; and her fur grandbabies—Penny, Finley, Gracie, and Stella—who brought her endless laughter and comfort. Along with many nieces, nephews, and friends, who will miss her dearly.
She now rejoins in eternal life her beloved husband, Butch Bigger; her parents, Mary and Joseph Normandin; her youngest brother, Joseph (Butchie) Normandin; her mother-in-law, Phyllis Zimmer; and her special brother-in-laws, Jim Suisse and Mike Bigger. We take comfort in knowing that her soul is at peace in God’s kingdom.
A funeral mass will be held Thursday, August 28th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clair. Interment will follow in Rosehill Cemetery, East China Twp. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 27th from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. A rosary recital will be at 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research, the American Legion Post #382 or the Blue Water Area Humane Society- organizations that reflected Sue's heart of service. To leave a message of comfort visit www.youngcolonial.com
