Gary Stirzinger Sr.'s Obituary
Gary Stirzinger Sr. “Chief”, age 71, of Peck, Michigan, passed away September, 13, 2025 following a courageous two year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Gary was born October 3, 1953 in Detroit to the late Richard and Carol Stirzinger. Gary was a proud firefighter for the Detroit Fire Department for 38 years. Like his father, Gary served the residents of Detroit and retired as Senior Chief. Gary was an avid outdoorsman, among his favorite outdoor activities were hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Diane Stirzinger; children, Gary Jr. (Selina) Stirzinger, Tracy (Mandin) Rodriguez and Patrick Stirzinger; grandchildren, Heidi, Blake, Bryce, Jayden, Alex and Chuchy; and his brother, Roger (Marie) Stirzinger.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 17th at 1:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Interment will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visiting hours are Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to services.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Detroit Firemen’s Fund, Blue Water Hospice Home, Residential Home Health Care or National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
