Gary M. Ikera's Obituary
Gary M. Ikera, age 70, of China Twp, passed away June 18, 2023 with his family by his side. He was born November 15, 1952 in Los Angeles, CA to the late John and Veronica Ikera. He was preceded in death by his brother; John Ikera and his Uncle Al and Aunt Helen Gogolin. He is survived by his sister in-law; Evelyn Ikera, nieces and nephews; Jessica (Chad) Blakely, John (Lillian) Ikera, Rebecca (Kevin) Congdon, Melissa (Jeremy) Fisher, great nieces and nephews; Carter, Sophia, Eleanor, Lucy and Vance. He is also survived by cousins; Gail Gogolin, Mike Gogolin and David Valigura, along with many other relatives and friends.
Spending time with family meant everything to Gary. We could always count on him to bring an Achatz pie to every family gathering.
Growing up Gary would spend summers in Michigan where his Uncle Al fueled his passion for many of the hobbies he enjoyed throughout his life; including golf, hunting and fishing. After high school Uncle Al mentored him in accounting which led him to start his own accounting firm. Gary also enjoyed traveling to his favorite destination Emerald Bay in Lake Tahoe and many casino trips.
Gary was part owner of the accounting firm Total Business Services, where he worked closely with his brother and sister in-law John and Evelyn Ikera and Pam Dueweke.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 27th at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, Marine City. There will be a memorial gathering from 10:30 to 11:00 am at the church prior to the service.
Memorials are suggested to Gift of Life-Michigan. Gary was an organ donor and his brother John was an organ recipient.
