F. Virginia Smith's Obituary
F. Virginia Smith, age 81, of Cottrellville Twp., passed away October 4, 2010 after a long illness. Virginia was born February 17, 1929 in Chatfield, Minnesota to Franklin R. and Florence L. (Eddy) Nelson. At a very early age, Virginia moved with her family to Marine City. Virginia graduated in 1946 from Marine City High School and was salutatorian of her class. Virginia married Raymond A. Smith on December 14, 1950 and they have been residents of Cottrellville Twp. ever since.
Virginia retired from Marine Bank & Trust as Assistant Vice-President, after 23 years of service. She was an avid bowler, loved playing cards and traveling. Virginia especially loved spending time with her grandsons and great grand children.
Virginia is survived by her husband of 60 years, Raymond A. Smith, her daughter Deborah J. Russell, grandsons; Troy J. (Tanya M.) Russell, Randall J. Russell, and Michael K. (Corrinne I.) Russell. Great grandchildren Nicole R. Russell, Paige I. Stone, Hunter J. Russell, and Randall J. Russell Jr.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Paul H. Nelson and Robert F. Nelson and her son Dennis R. Smith.
We wish to send a special thanks to the staff of Rachel's Corner in Algonac, for the exceptional care they gave Virginia in her last couple months.
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday October 9th from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made in Virginia's name to Rachel's Corner AFC Home in Algonac or to the Marine City High School Scholarship Fund.
