Frederick D. Smith Sr.'s Obituary
Frederick D. Smith Sr., age 86, of Marine City, passed away February 7, 2021. Fred was born in Port Huron, May 17, 1934, to the late Alfred and Christine Smith.
On May 19, 1956 Fred married Mary Lou DuBuque at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Marine City. Fred also proudly served his country with the U.S. Army. Fred owned and operated Fred’s Shell Service in East China Twp. for 10 years and later worked for and retired from Consumer’s Power after 24 years of employment. In his spare time Fred enjoyed camping with family and friends and was also gifted woodworker.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Lou Smith; children, Frederick D. Jr. (Cindy) Smith and Lisa Marie (Salli) Smith; grandchildren, Alyssa (Ryan) Drake and Corey Smith; brother, Maynard (Dorothy) Smith; sister, Helen Wuestenberg; sisters in law, Kris and Mary Smith and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Melvin, Walt, Harold and Laverne Smith and sisters, Alice Williams and Irene Biscorner.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 11th at 1:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Visiting hours are Thursday 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to service. Masks are required. Interment will be in Smith Cemetery, Cottrellville Twp. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Marine City Lions Club. To leave a message of comfort visit www.youngcolonial.com
