Frederick James "Jamie" Shinske's Obituary
Frederick James “Jamie” Shinske, age 83 of St. Clair, peacefully sailed off into the sunset on April 18, 2025. He was born February 1, 1942 in St. Clair to the late Charles and Elizabeth Shinske. Jamie married the love of his life, Linda Roberts, on March 24, 1961 in St. Petersburg, Florida. He proudly served his county with the U.S. Navy, and after his service, he went on to become a maintenance supervisor for DTE Energy, retiring after 39 years of dedicated work.
Jamie was an accomplished sailor, having sailed the Port Huron to Mackinac race more than 40 times, securing victory twice with his sailing partner Bill Wilson on Loon Magic. He cherished his PHYC family and served as Commodore in 1984. Later in life, his passions included shooting at the Blue Water Sportsman’s Association, riding his motorcycle and lunches with his friends.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Linda; children, Rick (Catherine) Shinske, TJ (Julie Schultz) Shinske, Suzanne (John) Joachim; grandchildren, Charlie and Grace Shinske, Kelsey Joachim, Rylie Joachim, Mackenzie (Jordan Walters) Joachim, John (Corina Ortiz) Joachim and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Jeff (Linda Clute) Shinske, Janet Shinske; sister in law, Margaret Shinske; along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother, John Shinske.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, starting at 1:00 p.m. with a service at 2:00 p.m. at the Port Huron Yacht Club. Memorials may be made to the PHYC.
