Frederick R. Ouellette's Obituary
Frederick Roy Ouellette, age 82, of Kalmazoo, formerly of Marine City, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 15, 2026. Fred was born in Ashtabula, Ohio on December 18, 1943, the son of Frederick G. and Emma “Ginger” (Tobias) Ouellette. On July 25, 1964, he married Carolyn Money who survives him.
Professionally he worked as a Journeyman Electrician and had just received his 60 year pin in the I.B.E.W. Local 58. He also had served as an electrical inspector in five different communities.
Fred was an avid golfer, bowler and all-around sports fan. When his sons were children, he coached their Little League teams. He also coached the Knights of Columbus softball team.
In their retirement, he and Carolyn enjoyed wintering in Florida, with special times spent with Carolyn’s sister Janet and her husband, Jack who also have recently died.
He had a wonderful , loving relationship with his family, especially his grandchildren, with whom he shared a mutual sense of humor. He loved to tease them and they liked to give it back, and he took it!
Besides his wife, Fred is survived by his children, Joseph Ouellette, Daniel (Lisa) Ouellette, granddaughters, Emily Halt, Molly (Patrick) Wythe, Brittany (Daniel) Ouellette;
great-granddaughter, Billie; brother-in-law, Tony Schweihofer; beloved nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents; a son, William (Lori) Ouellette; and sisters; Judy (Donald) Biland and Nancy Schweihofer.
Funeral mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 9 at Our Lady on the River Parish, Holy Cross Catholic Church. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, April 8 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. and from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. at church prior to mass.
