Fred "Freddie" Rettinger's Obituary
Fred “Freddie” Rettinger Jr., age 62, of China Township, unexpectedly and peacefully passed away in his home on April 6, 2025. Fred was born May 28, 1962 in St. Clair to the late Fred Sr. and Joan Rettinger.
Fred married the love of his life, Kimberly Spragg, on August 25, 1990 and they shared over 34 years side by side enjoying everything life brought their way. Fred was truly thankful for the gift of a loving family. He held a deep love for each and every one of his family members and was able to express that to them as he left this world. He was a hard worker and was proud to be an excellent provider for his family. Fred was selfless and a true gentleman and his infectious smile and unmistakable laugh will be missed by many.
Fred’s 40 year working career was spent serving the automotive industry. He worked with patterns, design, tool and die, computer draftsman and CAD designer and eventually elevated himself to Design Engineer Manager. Fred was loyal to each and every company he worked for and took pride in each position he held. He was well respected and well liked among his colleagues.
When it was time for something besides work, Fred enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, snowmobiling and riding quads. In his later years lawn maintenance evolved into a new hobby. He was also a past member of Perch Point Conservation Club.
Fred is survived by his wife, Kimberly Rettinger; daughters, Alicia (Brian) Nolan and Victoria (Selena) Rettinger; grandsons, Grayson Rettinger and Jonathon Nolan; sister, Tracey (Doug) Zielinski; father in law and mother in law, Gary and Carol Spragg; sisters in law, Michelle (Jim) Westrick and Branwen (William Massey) Spragg; nieces and nephews, Madison Zielinski, Megan (Mike) Sokacz, Lauren (David) Bertrand, Jeremy Westrick, Sophia Dibello and Vinnie Dibello; special friends, Mike and Lynn Zyrowski and Dana Brown Fulton and many dear extended family and close friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Rev. Joe Horn will officiate. Visiting hours are Thursday, 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to service.
