Mrs. Florence M. Sass' Obituary
Florence M. Sass, age 95, of Marysville, passed away unexpectedly September 20, 2012. She was born March 13, 1917 in China Twp. to Willie and Lillie Walters.
Florence married Raymond Sass on April 4, 1936, he preceded her in death July 9, 1990.
Florence was a homemaker, who loved to sew and cook. She could upholster furniture with the best of them. After moving to Marysville she worked at the Ben Franklin store for several years. She was a longtime active member of St. Matthews United Church of Christ, Adair. Florence loved family gatherings with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children; Judy (Robert) Van Austen of Oakland, CA, Janet (Kenneth) Stewart and Diana (Peter) Lapka of Marysville; grandchildren, Lori (Jim) Vollstaedt, Michael (Donna) Lapka and Theresa (Erik) Anderson; great grandchildren, James and Josh Vollstaedt, Christian, Paige and Nolan Anderson, and Tonya Lapka; sister in laws, Verda Walters and Irene Walters. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by brothers, Norman (Alvina), Raymond, Harold and Melvin Walters; sisters, Frances (John) Taylor, Alice Walters, Evelyn (John) Emig and Inez (Steve Stafford)(Robert) Abbott.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday September 24th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthews United Church of Christ, Adair. Rev. Jane Rathman, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville. Visiting hours are Saturday September 22nd 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. and Monday 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church prior to services.
Memorials may be made to St. Matthews Church.
