Evelyn Sue Terhune's Obituary
Evelyn Sue Terhune “Sue”, age 83 passed away peacefully October 26, 2022. She was born to James and Dorothy Johns in Detroit on March 7, 1939.
Sue attended the University of Michigan and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in interior design and art. She began her work career at Robinsons furniture store where she worked as an interior designer. One summer on vacation in Marine City she waved down a red Chris Craft and she met Edward Terhune. Little did she know they would be engaged 2 days later. Sue married Edward on November 5, 1966 in Marine City, MI.
Upon moving to Marine City Sue changed her career and began teaching. Initially she was a substitute teacher, then she became a permanent substitute covering semesters at a time. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and going to horse shows with her daughter Jenny.
Sue also enjoyed investing in the community. She served as East China Twp clerk for 4 years and was a Trustee and member of the Parks and Rec committee with Cottrellville Twp for 4 years.
She is survived by her husband Edward Terhune, Daughter Jenny Terhune, Son Mark (Michelle) Terhune, and Son Mike (Dawn) Terhune. Brother Thomas (Deanna) Johns, many nieces and nephews, Grand children Ryan Terhune, Jeff Robelli, Abby Terhune, Cassidy Terhune. Brent Garrett and Brandon Garrett. Great-grand children Caden Terhune, Addison Ellul, Autumn Ellul, Skyler Terhune, Jeffrey Robelli Jr, Julius Robelli, Adalee Garrett and Bella Garrett.
She was proceeded in death by her son James “Jimmy”, parents James and Dorothy Johns, Brother Harold Johns, Sister Joyce Caulkins, Brother-In-Law Andrew Terhune, Sister-In-Law Mary Terhune.
Sue was a U of M Alumni and avid U of M football fan. To celebrate Sue’s life and love of U of M football the family asks family and friends wear their favorite maize and blue jersey to the visitation.
A funeral mass will be held Monday October 31st at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, OLR Parish, Marine City. Visiting hours are Sunday October 30th from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. and Monday 10:00 to 11:00 at church.
