(Ethel) Jean Burgess' Obituary
(Ethel) Jean Burgess, 75, of Shelby Township, passed away on April 4, 2023 after a 4.5 month- long struggle with a multitude of health issues.
Jean was born on September 14, 1947 in Almont, MI to Clair and Phyllis Hall. After graduating from Capac High School, she obtained her teaching degree at Eastern Michigan University.
After graduation, she taught at Eddy and Gearing Elementary Schools in St. Clair, MI.
In 1971, she met James E. Burgess, and they wed in 1972, having a son, Scott.
Jean was an amazing wife and mother, absolutely loved her sheltie, Rusty, and was an avid gardener, scrapbooker, rollercoaster enthusiast, and loved traveling- especially to Gettysburg. We will miss her greatly.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Clair and Phyllis Hall. She is survived by her husband, James; son Scott (Stephanie) Burgess, and granddaughters, Aria and Eliana Burgess.
There will be an open viewing at Young Funeral Home, China Twp., on Monday, April 10th from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Viewing will also be held on Tuesday, April 11th from 10:00- 11:00 a.m. before a private, family- only service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jeanne’s memory to her favorite charity, Michigan Humane Society.
