Mr Elmo M Smith's Obituary
Elmo M. Smith of China Township went on to be with the Lord Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 1:45 am in the presence of family. He died of natural causes at the age of 94.
He was born in Jamestown, Tennessee on January 21, 1920 to Lonzie and Lena (Cooper) Smith. He was married to Dorothy L. (Richardson) Smith for 51 years until she preceded him in death in 1998.
He grew up on farms, lived through the great depression, served as a defense worker at the Redstone Rocket factory during World War 2, subsequently moving to Michigan after the war to look for work. He worked for Chrysler and then for Ford Motor Company, Wayne Assembly for 29 and a half years as a tinsmith retiring in 1988 to Fowlerville, Mi.
He had accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at an early age and had a great love for the Word of God and the church. While working at Wayne Assembly he was known as “the preacher” because he always had his bible with him. He was a tender hearted man of great compassion and a great sense of humor. A loving husband, father and Grandfather who will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his three sons and their wives, Richard and Sharon (Summerville) Smith, Gary and Carol (Krygier) Smith and James and Edie (Fracassa) Smith. Also by his Grand children, Jennifer (Smith) Adair, Jeremy Smith, Jeffrey Smith, Laura (Smith) Call, Linda (Smith) Wakeman, Michael Smith, Nicole (Smith) Costa and Sarah Smith. Also by his Great Grand children, Kalyn (Kruszka) McKenna,
Natalie Kruszka, Andriana Kruszka, Christian Adair, Gabrielle Adair, Victoria Call, Clarissa Call, Lilyana Wakeman and Levi Wakeman. Also by his Great, Great, Grandson Eli Dale McKenna.
