Mrs. Ellabeth "Beth" R. (Held) Schunck's Obituary
Ellabeth (Beth) R. Held Schunck, age 91, of China Township, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 10, 2012. Beth was born July 4, 1921 in Paw Paw, Michigan to Lloyd and Margaret (Hough) Held. She graduated from Lawton High School, Lawton, Michigan. She attended Placer Junior College, Auborn, Cal. and American College of Beauty Culture, Kalamazoo. She owned and operated Beth's Beauty Salon in Lawton before marrying Nelson C. Schunck, a dairy farmer from China Twp. on February 14, 1947. Beth worked as a floral designer at Silk's Flower Shop in St. Clair, MI for many years.
Beth enjoyed her family and friends, reading, her Native American Indian literature and collectables, crafts and birds. She enjoyed children as she was in volved in 4H and taught Sunday School. She belonged to cards clubs: Mothers's Club and Stork Club.
She is survived by her children, Dan N. (Judy) Schunck and Salligene Schunck of China Twp. grandchildren, Dan N. (Michelle) Schunck Jr and Hannah M. Schunck; great grandson, Louis Dan Schunck; brother, David (Roberta) Held; sister in law, Vera Hulett; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Nelson, parents, brothers, Robert and Richard and sister, Gene.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday September 13th at 11:00 a.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. The Rev. Gloria McCanna (Elizabeth's niece) will officiate. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery.
Visiting hours are Wednesday September 12th 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family.
