Eleanor Theresa Dornoff's Obituary
Eleanor Theresa Dornoff, age 80, of East China Twp., age 80, of East China Twp., passed away September 8, 2017. She was born July 5, 1937 to Antonio and Genevieve Barrese in Carbondale, Pennsylvania.
Eleanor attended beautician college in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Following college she worked at Jenni’s Pizza, owned by her mother. Soon after she opened her own salon in Jermyn, Pennsylvania. Eleanor married Thomas E. Dornoff in Carbondale, PA and then moved to Michigan. She raised her family and worked as a beautician in Marine City. She was employed at Ruth’s Beauty Shop and Newport Clippers for forty years. Eleanor was also a foster parent for many years. She is a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Our Lady on the River Parish and the Daughters of Isabella. Eleanor loved to travel, but her greatest joy was her time spent with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Thomas E. Dornoff; sons, Jason (Patricia) Dornoff, Joseph (Mariano) Dornoff and Thomas J. (Tracy) Dornoff; grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Brooke and Aidan; sisters, Mary Fuller and Carmella Flynn; sisters in law, Karen Merrill and Joyce McClarren; brother in law, Melvin Osterland and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents, Antonio and Genevieve Barrese; brother, Joseph Barrese and nephew, Anthony Barrese.
Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, September 13th at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, OLR Parish, Marine City. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Visiting hours are Tuesday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. with a rosary at 7 p.m. Additional visitation Wednesday before mass 9 to 10 a.m.
