Elaine Elizabeth Conlin's Obituary
Elaine Elizabeth (Langell) Conlin died peacefully at Marwood Nursing and Rehab in Port Huron, Mich. She was 94.
Mrs. Conlin was born December 29, 1921, in St. Clair, Mich., to parents Frederick and Edna (Smith) Langell. A graduate of Marine City High School in 1940, she participated in glee club, debate, baseball, tennis, and served as class secretary and treasurer. Growing up, she sang for weddings and funerals at the First Methodist Church in Marine City. After high school, she worked in the offices of Chrysler where she met her husband, Howard J. Conlin. They were married November 28, 1946, after his tour in WWII.
Mrs. Conlin and her husband moved to St. Clair Shores and resided in Eagle Point Subdivision until 1973. It was a close-knit neighborhood on Lake St. Clair with activities revolving around the lake, boating, hockey and raising a family. She took pride in her home, raising her children, and involvement in school and neighborhood activities. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Conlin returned to St. Clair in 1973 when she and her husband built a home on the St. Clair River. They lived there until moving to Mallards Landing Retirement Center in 2012. Mrs. Conlin was a member of the St. Clair Country Club, enjoyed watching her grandson’s play hockey and baseball, and built many close and lasting friendships in the St. Clair community.
She enjoyed travelling with husband and friends to South America, Europe, Hawaii, Baniff, Florida and throughout the United States.
Mrs. Conlin is survived by her brothers Harold Langell (Boston, MA) and Robert Langell (Phoenix, AZ), two children, Judith Ann and husband David Silverman (Ann Arbor) and Howard J. Conlin II (St. Clair), daughter-in-law Tracy Conlin (St. Clair), four grandchildren: John C. Uznis, Jr. (Christine), Elizabeth Johnson (Ken), Jason Conlin and Scott Conlin, and six great- grandchildren: Zoie, Jack, Ben and Peter Uznis and, Alex and Kevin Johnson.
Memorial gatherings will take place at 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Fri., March 4, at Young Funeral Home in China Township. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, at the funeral home with visitation one hour prior.
