Mr. Edward John Westrick Sr.'s Obituary
Edward John Westrick Sr., age 80, of East China Twp., died July 2, 2014. He was born June 22, 1934 in China Twp. to the late Raymond and Mary Westrick.
On November 6, 1954 Ed married Catherine Anne LaCroix in St. Clair.
Ed was a self employed commercial contractor since 1965. He was very ambitious and passionate about his work and enjoyed the challenges his work brought him each day. He was a former member of Iron Workers Local 25 from 1955 to 1965. Ed sold real estate and had a great love of farming. He also enjoyed the challenge of a fixer upper. As his children got married and moved out he loved helping them fix up their starter homes.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Catherine Anne Westrick, children, Donna (Charles) Treppa, Nancy (Ken) Kulman, Edward Jr. (Pam) Westrick, Susan (Bob) Schmid and Jeff (Kathy) Westrick, grandchildren, Melissa and Charles Treppa Jr., Jason and Rebecca Kulman, Edward Westrick III, Michelle Hool, Michael and Laura LaDuke and Zachary and Brianna Schmid, three great grandsons, brothers, Kenneth, Alvoy, Ervin, Vern, Alfred, Marvin and Jack Westrick, sisters, Joyce Cooley and Kathleen Distelrath and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Maxwell Westrick, daughter in law, Wendy Westrick and brothers, Raymond, Leo and Lloyd Westrick.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday July 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clair. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, St. Clair. Visiting hours are Saturday 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. A rosary will be recited Sunday at 7:00 p.m. Edward’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Assoc. or the American Diabetes Association.
