Edward R. Rhein's Obituary
Edward R. Rhein, age 82, of China Twp., died December 23, 2015. He was born June 7, 1933 in Lenox, Michigan to the late Lawrence and Angela Rhein. On November 22, 1956 Edward married Lucille Ann Schweihofer.
Ed was a graduate of St. Augustine High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955, during the Korean conflict. He owned and operated Ed’s Radiator in China Twp. for 40 years. He was very proud that he sent all 12 of his children through 8th grade at St. Mary’s School and 12th grade at Holy Cross & Cardinal Mooney High Schools. He also served on committees at both schools. Ed was a member of St. Mary’s Parish and the St. Clair Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Lu Ann Rhein, sons; Anthony (Laurie), Daniel (Wendy), Robert (Therese), John (Mary), Bernard (Puree), Michael (Janet), Martin (Alycia) and Paul (Lindsay) Rhein, daughters; Geralynn (Joseph) Sutherland, Marianne Rhein, Angela (Rhein) Nader and Elizabeth (Rhein) Roche, 47 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, brothers; Larry (Sue), Donald (Helga), Fred (Carol) and James (Debbie) Rhein, sisters; Bernice Westrick, Rosemary Smith and Caroline (George) Biscarner, in-laws; Mary Rhein, Ellie Rhein, Doris and Stan Rozborski, Margaret and Fred West, Elaine Yielding and Fred (Pat) Schweihofer. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Alfred and Arthur Rhein, father and mother in law; Fred and Lucille Schweihofer, brothers in law, Leo Westrick and Richard K. Smith and two infant siblings.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held Tuesday December 29th at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clair. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation hours are Sunday 4 to 8 p.m. and Monday 2 to 8 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. and Tuesday 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday.
