Mrs. Edith P. McLeod's Obituary
Edith P. McLeod, age 87, of Algonac, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2014, at Rachel’s Corner AFC. She was born March 25, 1927 in Detroit to the late Smith and Mina Lowell.
Edith graduated from Roseville Eastland High School in 1945. She married Allan Malcolm McLeod in 1947, he preceded her in death on January 3, 1995. In 1954 Edith and Al moved to Algonac, put down roots and raised five children. Edith was a devoted mother and homemaker. She mastered sewing and knitting clothes for her children. Edith also enjoyed golfing, travelling, crafts and cake decorating. She always had an extra dinner plate ready for a neighborhood friend or relative that drove up for a day trip.
Edith is a past member of the Algonac Lioness Club and volunteered at the mobile library, as a teachers aid, local elections and as a scout leader.
Edith is survived by her children and their spouses, Kathleen and Charles Goetz of Rome, New York, Allan and Susan McLeod of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Janee and Dennis McDowell of Dearborn, Dr. Gary and Dara McLeod of Three Rivers, Mich. and Susan and Russell Schutt of Marine City. Grandchildren, Dr. Jennifer and Liam Goetz-Gleeson, Lt. Col. Joseph C. and Beth Goetz, Elizabeth and David Patridge, Kathleen Goetz, Dr. Joseph McDowell and fiancé Katie D’Avanzo, Gregory McDowell, Dr. Kiersten McLeod, Connar McLeod, Callan McLeod, Janel and David Marlatt, Natalie and Dustin Wahl. Great grandchildren, Liam and Finnigan Gleeson, Benjamin, Charles and Addison Goetz, Cooper Goetz, Mattison and Kaden Marlatt and Layne Wahl. Siblings, Walter and Margaret Lowell, Minnie Haska, Winifred Martin and James Lowell, sisters in law, Elaine Blake, Margaret Ebert, Karen McLeod Cox and Maxine McLeod. She was predeceased by sisters, Joann Gualdoni and Caroline Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday November 29th at 12:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Visiting hours are Friday 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to service.
