Earl Leon Fortner, age 84, of Sanilac County, formally of St. Clair County, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, August 26, 2018. Earl began working as a farmer, from there he went on to work at Ira Wilson Dairy Read Obituary
We really missed Earl and Carol at South Pass City and as Volunteers for Gold Rush Days this year. Earl was a part of the scene for so many years. Thanks to all of the Fortner family and what they have and are doing for us, here at South Pass City and for the Friends of South Pass. We are all going to miss Earl.
Earl and his family have been friends of our family for years in the Springborn road neighborhood. Sadly we were not able to visit this evening with you, our daughter had her first child and I am staying with them. Just want you and your to know you are in our thoughts and prayers . With deepest sympathy to Carol and the entire family. We adored Earl and enjoyed visiting with him in Atlantic City. He would often walk Max down the hill and admire my old Willy's Jeep. At the end of their first summer at our guest cabin, Carol gave me a small angel figurine engraved with the following message: "To love and be loved is the greatest gift of all". I pray that Carol finds some comfort remembering the many years of love shared with her dear Earl.
Dear Carolyn, We are soo sorry to hear that Earl Passed away.. Even thou it has been only a couple years ago that we met you, it seemed like we had known one another for many years. We so enjoyed Earl's company and were looking forward to next winter when we could get together to eat and play cards. Life will be different I am sure, but we do hope you will come down to AZ this winter. Again, you have our deepest sympathy and know the Good Lord will help you thru this hard time. Please take care.

Earl was such an easy person to talk to, some people just make a connection as soon as you meet them, Earl was like that. We will miss him greatly.
