Mr. Earl Kenneth Chartier's Obituary
Earl Kenneth Chartier, 93
Born February 13, 1919 in Algonac to parents Lillian and Stanley Chartier. Died January 11, 2013 at home in Marine City, surrounded by loving family and caregivers.
He was a resident of the downriver area for his entire life. His family lived in the Colony tower in Algonac during his childhood years.
He was married to the former Lucile Ledford, for nearly 70 years. They had met in Fort Campbell, KY where he was working for Ford Motor Company demonstrating military tanks.
Earl is survived by wife Lucile, children Ken (Jenay) of Marine City and Linda (Glen) Conner of Mt. Juliet, TN, sister Frances Roach; grandchildren Joseph, Cris (Danielle), and Konner Chartier, Ryan (Kaska), and Brad (Karin) Hill; 6 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, and beloved dog, Buddy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Malcolm Chartier and Maynard Chartier.
He was the owner of Chartier Stables, Marine City, and previous work involved excavating, milk hauling, and trucking businesses.
Earl touched many lives, through his contacts from the riding stable and horse community, as well as by his warm, pleasant personality that was filled with wit, humor, and compassion. He was a member of the St. Clair County Sheriff's Posse mounted unit for several years. His interests included western movies, country music, and attending horse shows involving family members.
Arrangements are being handled by Young Funeral Home, St. Clair. Visitation will be Mondayfrom 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Private burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Starville.
If donations are being considered, the family suggests these be made to Blue Water Humane Society, in honor of Earl's love for animals.
