I can't count how many times I had Chuck's hand on my shoulder saying "out of all the people I know, you're one of 'em..." The last time I saw him in the office this past June, he did that for me one last time, and said, " I'll always be here for ya...good luck kid"...I was relocating. I wanted to bring Chuck with me. Our best talks were about Sleeping Bear Dunes. We both loved it there. I am very sad he is no longer here...but very grateful and blessed to have had him in my life...my world is a better place to have had Chuck in it.
I'm pattin' you on the shoulder this time...I'll miss you Chuck...Thanks for being there! God Bless...

My heart felt and sincerest condolences to the Ongena family. I just received the news in the mail today and my heart is broken. I've been a patient for app six and a half years and I've never known another doctor like Dr. Ongena. From day one he made me feel like I was his only patient. He was always so kind, considerate, compassionate and caring and funny. I was just in the office a few days before his passing and I can not believe I won't see him again. He was more than a doctor and I am certain I am not the only patient to feel this way. He truly cared about his patients. A short time ago we were discussing my not having insurance and I told him I didn't want to accept an insurance that required changing doctors because I wanted him to be my doctor. His reply.....that I would not be doing myself a service by not taking care of myself. He said he appreciated my not wanting to leave him but I needed to do what was best for me. That speaks volumes to the character of a truly great man and doctor. I will miss you Dr. Ongena and I will never, never forget the best doctor I have ever known! I truly believe you did your best to "fix," me just as you said you would on that first visit! You will be missed and terribly hard to replace.##imported-begin##Elizabeth Liming##imported-end##

Dear Terry & Family,

I just learned of Chuck's passing. It has been too many years since I have seen or talked with you.

I remember our great college years in Eicher-Lefvre Hall at Western Michigan University, and our meeting again years later at Romeo Civic Dance.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Terry and your entire family during this very sad time for your life.

Laura and I are so sorry to her about Chuck. We both have many fond memories of spending time with the two of you golfing, at the palace, concerts, and watching the boats go by at your home. We heard of Chuck's passing just today. We think of him fondly as a great guy with a zest for life. He lived live to the hilt; he will be missed.

I have known Chuck for 30 years, he helped me tremendousley went I first got out in practice. Despite not seeing him much in last few years Chuck and remained friends. I could always count on him and he could count on me. Truely

Dr. Ongena was a wonderful Dr., he took care of me since I was young and my family. He wasn't just a Dr he was a friend. He had great bedside manner, and took the time to get to know each of his pt. He knew my darkest secrets and always tried to help, I cant imagine talking to anyone else. I will truely miss him. And can't believe hes gone. To his family you had a wonderful man and i"m sorry for your loss. He was GREAT
