Douglas Newberry's Obituary
Douglas Newberry died unexpectedly of an apparent cardiac-related arrest while enjoying an annual rabbit hunting event with his buddies, on the snow covered morning of February 16.
Ever the outdoorsman, Doug spent as much time as he could in the woods, on the water, or in his garden. He met the love of his life, Christine, in 1978 at Silver Trails Scout Reservation, where both teenagers were on staff for Cub Scout day camp. They married on January 9, 1987. Together they raised their two sons and enjoyed scouting, sports, cooking and family reunions. The most important aspect of Doug's life was family, and he had only just begun to taste the joy of grand-parenting.
Doug will be deeply missed by his family and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald & Betty Newberry, of Jeddo.
Survived by wife Christine, sons Cory (Heather) and Collin, and three granddaughters: Holly Noelle, Sydney Lee, and Olivia Grace. Also survived by two brothers, Terry and Donald Newberry, Jr., and two sisters, Tracy (Duane) Graven, and Patti Newberry; parents-in-law, Tom and Mary Zobl; brothers-in-law: Tom Zobl Jr., Marty (Joleen) Zobl, and Scott (Katia) Zobl; sisters-in-law: Tracy (Daniel) Coverdill and Amy (Daniel) Boddy; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation in the Young Funeral Home in St. Clair 6-9 PM Tuesday; and 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM Wednesday, with 8PM rosary.
In state at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Thursday from 10:30 AM until Mass at 11 AM. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, St. Clair.
Pall bearers will be Terry Newberry, Donald Newberry Jr., Paul Zimmer, Brian Meyers, Tim Stephenson, and Rod Rogus
In lieu of flowers, those who may want to remember Doug might consider a gift to his favorite charity, the Blue Water Sportsfishing Association; or in his memory to the donor's own charity of choice.
