Dorothy Brotherton's Obituary
North Street - Dorothy Louise Brotherton, passed away on Tuesday, January 05, 2010. She was born April 27, 1927 in Marine City, the second child of Louise (Sharrow) and Arthur Horn. Dorothy attended Marine City High School, was a licensed cosmetologist, and co-owner of Brotherton’s Nursery in Mio, MI. Dorothy married her husband of 49 years, Ralph Brotherton, February 27, 1960. She was a member of the Fraternal Orders of Eagles, Fairview, MI. Dorothy will forever be remembered for her wit and laughter, and as a wonderful cook and avid bingo player.
She is predeceased by her loving husband, parents, sisters Elinor (infant), Ruth (infant) and Virginia Heath; sisters in law, Agnes, Mary Ann and Janet Horn.
Dorothy is survived by stepdaughters, Carol (Jeffrey) Kook, Ruby, MI and Karen (Geoffrey) Royce, Cherokee, NC; Sisters: Helen (Lloyd) McClellan, Dorr, MI and Diane (Larry) Woodward, Grand Rapids, MI; Brothers: Donald Horn, East China, Robert Horn, St Clair, and James Horn, East China; Brother in law Gerald Heath, China; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 7p.m. - 9p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2010, Young Funeral Home, East China and 1p.m. Friday, January 8 with a funeral service at 2:00, interment is at Rose Hill Cemetary, East China.
