Mr. Donald F. Smith's Obituary
Donald F. Smith, age 91, of St. Clair, died February 25, 2015. He was born July 25, 1923 in Windsor, Ontario. Donald married Velma Hytonene on April 14, 1945. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church for 54 years and Light of Christ Lutheran Church for the past 8 years. Donald served with the Canadian Armed Forces during World War II. He was a dairy and produce farmer for many years in St. Clair and later moved to Lake Worth, Florida and became a surveyor. Following retirement he returned to Michigan living in St. Clair and Marysville. Donald was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed trips to the casino and playing cards.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Velma Smith, daughter, Barbara Smith and granddaughters; Kerri, Liisa, Katie and Erin.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday March 2, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Clair. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, St. Clair. Visiting hours are Sunday 4 – 8 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. and Monday 10:30 to 11 a.m. prior to service. Memorials are suggested to Light of Christ Lutheran Church, Marysville.
