Donald R. Kammer's Obituary
Donald R. Kammer, 82 of China Township, MI passed away peacefully in his home on August 4th, 2025. Donald was born on September 1st, 1942 to the late Frank and Barbara Kammer in Richmond, MI. Donald was predeceased in death by his loving wife Margaret, his son Kevin, sisters Dorothy and Barbara, and brothers Richard and David. He is survived by his children; Keith (Maria), Kurt (Michele), Kim Velfling (Brad) and Kris Kammer, siblings Patricia and Daniel, grandchildren: Brandon, Ashlea, Alex, Emma, Randy, Seth, Sam, Jack and 4 great-grandchildren.
Donald was a proud, dedicated member of Operating Engineers Local 324 where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for 50 years. Don loved being outside and enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He especially enjoyed nurturing his vegetable garden and sharing the delicious produce with friends and family.
Special thanks to caregivers Grace, Leasa, Vicki, Maria, Gina, Dawn and Denise for providing excellent compassionate care and friendship to Don in his time of need.
A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of the River Catholic Church in Marine City on Friday, August 8, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Marine City.
Visitation is Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Young Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in China Twp. and Friday from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. at church prior to mass.
