Donald J. Guyor's Obituary
Donald J. Guyor of Peck, Michigan, formerly of Marine City, Michigan, died peacefully on July 6, 2023, with family at his side. Don was born on October 7, 1959, in Detroit, the son of Iva (Heath) and George Guyor.
Don grew up in Marine City and graduated from Holy Cross High School where he played basketball. During high school he was a good recreational bowler, winning the 1976-77 Tournament and scoring a tournament high game of 221. Don’s work experience included a supervisory position with a steel company in Florida and as a restaurant cook.
Don loved the outdoors and spent many hours fishing and boating here in Michigan and while he lived in Florida. He loved dogs, especially “Buck.” He was an avid fan of University of Michigan and Detroit sports teams. With a keen interest in history, he especially enjoyed reading about the early years of the United States. Cooking was a skill he learned and developed on his own.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant brothers. Don is survived by his brothers Fred (Katherine) Guyor and Jim (Kathleen) Guyor, sisters Janet Wiltshire, Georgia (Mike) Phelan, and Miriam Guyor, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 14, at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 527 N. William St., Marine City. Visitation will take place from 1:00-3:00 p.m. with the service at 3:00.
