Donald F. Garant's Obituary
Donald F. Garant, age 74, of Clinton Township, passed away January 7, 2025. He was born January 13, 1950 in Highland Park to the late Norman and Eleanor Garant.
Don graduated from Nativity High School in Detroit. Following graduation he proudly served 6 years with the Air National Guard. Don’s working career began at Detroit Copper and Brass, where he worked in sales for a short time. His next career move was into the family business, Norman Manufacturing Company in Fraser. Don enjoyed handling both sales and service at NMC for many years and always held close the many working relationships he made throughout the years.
Don was an avid bowler, who enjoyed a night out with friends. His piece of heaven on earth was the cottage on Stag Island. Don cherished his time on the island with his family and dear friends. Don was a people person that loved an audience and was well liked by everyone that met him. His famous barbeque’s, hilarious stories, and bigger than life personality will be missed by many.
Don is survived by his brother, Ernest (Mary) Garant and sister, Mary Garant (William Turner); sister in law, Grace Garant and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Norman E. Garant Jr. and Thomas (Ruth) Garant.
A service of remembrance will be held Monday, January 13th at 1:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Visitation will be Monday 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
