Don O. Uppleger, Sr.'s Obituary
Don O. Uppleger Sr., age 79, of Casco Twp., died February 28, 2016. He was born October 12, 1936 on the family farm in Casco Twp. to the late Earl and Leona Uppleger.
Don honorably served his country with the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. On April 8, 1961 he married Carol Franklin in Casco Twp. Carol preceded him in death in 2008. Don worked for 32 years for the St. Clair County Road Commission out of the Marine City Warehouse. He was a member of the St. Clair Hunt and Fish Club for many years and a member of St. James UCC, Casco Twp. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children; Don Jr. (Michelle) Uppleger, Donna Vamvas and Dale (Lisa) Uppleger, grandchildren; Katie Alsbury (fiancée Nick Yaek), Don III, Kelsey, Lindsey and Kyle Uppleger, brothers and sisters; Elmer (Nancy) Uppleger, Nancy Maedel, Mary Jane Shoebottom and Ed (LouAnn) Uppleger, brothers in law and sister in law; Gil Pavey and Dan and Patty Fasbender and many nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his brother, Harold (Betty) Uppleger, sister, Betty May Pavey and brothers in law; Junior Maedel and Don Shoebottom.
Funeral services will be Thursday March 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at St. James UCC, Casco Twp. Visiting hours are Tuesday 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp.
