Don R. Thomas, age 87, of Harsens Island, peacefully passed away on July 4, 2018. Don was born in Detroit on June 13, 1931. He graduated from East Detroit High School. At 18, he joined the U.S. Army and proudly served during the K Read Obituary

I had the pleasure of working for Don at the MISD back in 1987. He was a kind and caring man. When I became pregnant with my third child, I knew it was going to be another boy to add to the two I already had, however, Don presented me with a beautiful bonnet and told me he was confident it would be a girl. Emily was born in 1988. On July 4th of this year, I gave that very bonnet to Emily who was set to deliver my first granddaughter (six grandsons already) the next day. I presented the gift with a note saying who it was from. Don's kindness, 30 years ago, is being passed down in my family.
