Dennis R. Schmidt's Obituary
Dennis R. Schmidt, age 69, of Columbus Twp., passed away unexpectedly February 16, 2021. He was born January 23, 1952 in St. Clair to the late Myron and Edith Schmidt.
Dennis was a lifelong truck driver starting at the age of 16 for Schmidt’s Garage fuel and oil which his dad owned. He then continued driving truck for 50 years before retiring from Blue Water Trucking. Dennis could be found on most Sundays watching NASCAR all day long. He enjoyed visiting his family cabin in Manistee, MI. Dennis was also a member of The Richmond Moose Lodge 2575. But above all Dennis loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his sons, Jonathon R. (Lisa) Schmidt, Mark L. (Nicole) Schmidt; daughter, Kristina Kowitz, multiple grandchildren; brothers, Gary (Della) Schmidt, Dale Schmidt; sisters, Dawn Schmidt, Lori (Wayne) Schulz, along with several nieces and nephews.
Dennis is preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie McGuffin; sister-in-law, Francine Schmidt and daughter Kimberly Wilczek.
