Denese F. Prestegard's Obituary
Denese F. Prestegard, age 76, of Savage, Minnesota, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 21, 2026. She was born on February 23, 1949, in Minot, North Dakota to the late Ruben and Viola Halvorson. She was a graduate of Mohall High School, ND, class of 1967. Denese worked as a reservationist for 40 years. She began her career with Northwest Airlines, then went on to work for Delta before retiring in 2011. She was an active member of Glendale United Methodist Church, Savage, Minnesota. She was involved in numerous events that the church put on throughout the years. In her spare time, Denese enjoyed sewing. She made stockings for her grandchildren, quilts for family and friends, there wasn’t anything she couldn’t sew. She was social. Denese looked forward to going out with her friends. She and her friends would often go dancing, Denese loved listening to live music. A large part of Denese’s life was stamping. She was a talented card maker who made cards for all events for her family and friends. Denese taught classes with her friends in how to stamp, however, her favorite people to teach were her grandchildren. She truly cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. Denese’s family meant the world to her. A selfless woman, who always put others needs before her own. Her infectious smile and generous soul will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Heather (Derian) Hatcher, Kirk (Maggie) Prestegard; grandchildren, Chase, Shallyn (Fritz Pappert) Kelton, Finley Hatcher, Hallie (Joe) Dehlia, Sophie, Anabelle, and Vivian Prestegard; siblings, Debbie Worthington, Sherry (Larry) Anderson; special companion, Neal Stenland, as well as numerous special extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Sandra Blazek.
Cremation arrangements with Young Funeral Home, China Twp. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, February 28th at 2:00 p.m. at Glendale United Methodist Church, Savage, MN. There will be visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Denese will be laid to rest at Mohall Cemetery, Mohall, ND in the spring.
