David Roy Whittaker's Obituary
David Roy Whittaker, age 70, of East China Twp., passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025 surrounded by his family. He fiercely battled Multiple Sclerosis for 45 years. Despite this, Dave always had a sense of humor, positive attitude and determination to live life to the fullest.
David was born on June 12, 1955 in St. Clair, Michigan to the late Russell and Joyce Whittaker. He graduated from St. Clair high School in 1973. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Wrocklage on October 18, 1974. They enjoyed 51 years of marriage. Dave was employed by East China Twp. For over 30 years, retiring in 2005.
Dave was an avid outdoorsman from a very young age. He enjoyed everything from fishing to small game hunting, but most of all, deer hunting at his cabin in Kingston. He was an inventor of sorts, always thinking of ways to modify and improve his quality of life. He was also the first one you would call for advice on how to fix something or for a tool you needed to borrow. Dave always looked forward to his weekly visits from friends. Dave is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters, Mandy (Andrew) Mychek, Terri (Nathan) Rosel; grandchildren, Ty, Louis, Addison, Breanna, Charlotte; sister, Lisa (Jack) Horn, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Joyce Whittaker; brother, Don (Ann) Whittaker; sister, Vicki (Robert) Mead
Cremation arrangements with Young Funeral Home, China Twp. A visitation to honor Dave’s life will take place on Sunday, November 16th from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp.
