David C. Schweihofer's Obituary
David C. Schweihofer, age 91, of Cottrellville Twp., passed away June 19, 2024 in the comfort of his own home with family at his side. Dave was born September 27, 1932 in St. Clair to the late Aloysius and Dorothy Schweihofer.
David married Dorothy Ann Westrick on November 27, 1954 and they enjoyed nearly 70 years of marriage. Dave proudly served with the U.S. Army for two years in Korea. He was a well known and respected concrete contractor in the area for many years. Dave was an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and the Marine City Knights of Columbus Council #856. He was also a longtime member of Union Local #10.
In his spare time, Dave enjoyed restoring, showing and parading his antique tractor collection. He also enjoyed relaxing during camping and fishing trips, but nothing compared to his love of going up north to the cabin with family and friends.
Dave is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Tom (Sandy) Schweihofer, Don Schweihofer, Karen (Duane) Thueme, Diane (Mark) Bowden and Dave (Kris) Schweihofer; grandchildren, Erin (Beau), Gary, Don Jr. (Renee), Eric (Alicia), Lisa (Nathan), Kathie (James), Brian (Sara), Jim (Heaven), Mike (Amelia), Julie (Gabe), Alex, Katie, Jessica, Amy and Sarah; 31 great grandchildren; siblings, Joan (John) Paling, Josie Long and Annette (Bob) Burgess; in-laws, Bob (Joan) Westrick and Ann Westrick and many nieces and nephews.
Dave was preceded in death by siblings, Joe, Jim, Pete, Ben and Francis Schweihofer, Dorothy Wathen and Mary Rhein.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 28th at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Marine City. Visiting hours are Thursday, June 27th 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. A rosary will be offered at 7:00 p.m. Additional visitation Friday, 10:00 to 11:00 at church prior to mass.
