David Leon Atkins II's Obituary
David Leon Atkins II, age 41, of China Twp., went to be with the Lord on July 18, 2026. He was born on March 2, 1985 to David and Lisa Atkins. David was a graduate of Marysville High School, class of 2003. Following High School, he went on and received his Bachelors degree in HVAC from Ferris State University. It was at Ferris, where he met the love of his life, Jennifer Griesmaier. Jenn and David were married on October 1, 2011. David worked for Johnson Controls for 10 years. He then went on and worked in the utilities industry. Through hard work and dedication, he earned a supervisor position for Consumers Energy. David was a man of faith, he was a longtime member of Rock Church, Ira. David and Jenn enjoyed a mission trip with fellow church members to South Africa. In his spare time, David was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed pheasant and deer hunting, he found peace in being outside. He cherished the family vacations, where they took the children hiking and site seeing. He was a dedicated baseball coach for Marine City Little League and Blue Water Titans. He was so honored to be a part of those organizations and coaching his son, David. He was a proud father, who took pride in caring for his family. He always made sure his family was taken care of. David loved being a part of his children’s extracurricular activities. David was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, nephew, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jenn; children, Josie, David III, Jessalyn, Joelle; parents, David and Lisa; sisters, Dana LaBelle, Diandra (Dave) Gurne; nieces and nephews, Cody, Erin, Haley, Elysa, Derek, Eddie, Nolan, Ella and Isaak as well as several other special family members and friends.
A funeral service will take place on Friday, July 24th at 11:00 a.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Visiting hours will be Thursday, July 23rd from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. as well as one hour prior to the service on Friday. David will be laid to rest at Caswell Cemetery, Kimball Twp.
