Dale Edward Keyt's Obituary
Dale Edward Keyt, 68, of China, MI, died on May 22, 2016 at St. John’s Hospital. Dale was born in LaSalle, IL, on June 19, 1947. He earned a BA in Music at Luther College in 1969 and began his career as a band teacher. On June 1, 1974, he married Nancy, and they had two children, Amy and Brian. Dale continued his love of music through performing and coordinating music at church. Dale was also a master carpenter, crafting custom cabinetry and building homes for himself and his brother. Having grown up on a farm, Dale was also a skilled gardener, growing several tons of produce every year with his dear friend, Harold, for St. Mary’s Food Pantry in New Baltimore. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Lydia Keyt, and by his brother, Roy Keyt. Dale will be remembered as a kind and generous man with a dry sense of humor and great integrity. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and community. Visitation will be at Young Funeral Home in East China, MI, on Wednesday, May 25th, from 2-4 and 6-9pm. A celebration of Dale’s life will be held on Thursday, May 26th, at 5:30pm, at American Lutheran Church in Clinton Township, with an additional visitation one hour prior. Memorial donations may be made in Dale’s name to the American Lutheran Church or St. Mary’s Food Pantry.
