Clifford Ross Freeland II's Obituary
Clifford Ross Freeland II “The Big Red Dog”, age 70, of Marine City, passed away unexpectedly on January 15, 2023. He was born to the late Clifford Sr. and Alberta Freeland on June 23, 1952. Cliff married Lori Smith on January 12, 2006. In his younger years, Cliff was a diver for St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department. He owned and operated his mechanic and wrecker business. He later worked for the St. Clair County Road commission, retiring after 20 plus years. Cliff then went on to work at M&J Electric, Local 17, retiring after working 15 years. Cliff was an avid outdoorsman who spent a lot of time up north, hunting, and fishing. He loved everything about the outdoors. He was a man with a great work ethic. Working hard was something Cliff took great pride in. He was a selfless man, who always put others needs before his own. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Cliff did his best to make as many sporting events as he could for his grandchildren. Above all, Cliff was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Lori; sons, Clifford III Freeland, Steve (Casey) Freeland, Dylan Parker; grandchildren, Ashley Williams, Mya, Claire, Tessa, Hunter, Parker Freeland; siblings, Ann Whittaker, Penny Malcolm, Jim Freeland; a special friendship with his nephew, Michael Smith; brothers-in-law, Ed Stoutenburg, Michael "Dirt" (Patty) Smith; sister- in- law, Michelle (Dan) Maben, as well as many family members and countless friends.
He is preceded in death by his son, Ryan Jacob Freeland; sister, Judy Stoutenburg; brothers-in-law, Rich Malcom, Don Whittaker Sr; sister- in- law, Nancy Freeland.
A funeral service will be on Friday, January 20th at 11:30 a.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, January 19th from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. as well as one hour prior to the service on Friday. To leave a message of comfort visit www.youngcolonial.com
