Cheryl Ann Slankster's Obituary
Cheryl Ann Slankster, age 79, of Cottrellville Twp., passed away October 7, 2025. She was born June 18, 1946 in Detroit to the late Harry and Lillian Sparger. On June 6, 1964 Cheryl married Harvey Slankster in New Baltimore.
Cheryl graduated from St. Clair County Community College at the top of her class in the nursing program. She was a registered nurse for many years at St. Joseph East and St. Joseph West hospitals in the Emergency Room. Cheryl was also instrumental in the operation of the Urgent Care in Chesterfield. Caring for patients, family and friends was second nature to Cheryl.
Cheryl enjoyed knitting and loved making stockings for everyone close to her. She and Harvey looked forward to spending time in Rose City and Island Lake, Michigan each year. During the winter months, trips to Florida were a favorite destination for both of them.
Whether it be a river, lake, pool or stream, Cheryl found great peace around water. She loved her alone time to enjoy her surroundings and her beloved dog, Max.
Cheryl is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Harvey Slankster Jr.; loving children, Rink Slankster, Lisa (Dennis) DeNault, Joe (Denise) Slankster, Julie Will and Tina Stillwell; cherished grandchildren, Theresa Stillwell, Shelby (Chris) Kaske, Emily (Corben) Goold, Taylor (Ryan) Slankster, Jake (Amie) Slankster, Sophia DeNault, Austin Slankster, Nicholas Slankster, Phillip Will and Sean Slankster; great grandchildren, Lillian, Kennedy, Bennet, Abel, Elli, Lucas, Milo and Silas; siblings, Tom (Sue) Sparger, Karen (Joe) Cencius, Frank (Lynn) Sparger, Bob (Rhea) Sparger, and Raeann (Don) Beckman.
Honoring Cheryl’s request, a private family memorial will be held at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
