Charles Shomo's Obituary
On April 3, 2025, Charles Shomo passed away at the age of 73. He was born September 7, 1951 at the old St. Clair Hospital in St. Clair to the late Charles L. and Ruth L. (Smith) Shomo.
Growing up Charles loved being outside. He attended Hart School grades K-6 with Mrs. McLean as his teacher for all grades. From there he went onto middle school then high school where he played football and was scouted by Eastern but his knees and ankles hindered him from continuing his playing career. He joined F.A.A through high school and worked on many different farms in the area. Charlie graduated from high school on June 19, 1969 and after worked for Garret Smith plumbing and took classes welding where he became government certified. He worked all over the east coast including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, all over Detroit and surrounding cities on new construction. Upon retiring Charles really enjoyed farming, helping his sister and her husband with farming, hay, mowing, cattle and other important jobs until his health put a stop to his dreams. Above all he doted on his family, his niece, great niece, nephew enjoying family get togethers.
Charlie a born-again Christian left us, until we meet again in heaven, he is survived by his sister Sandy K. (Paul) Mayle; niece, Korene Mayle; great niece and nephew, Mikayla Mayle and Dennis Onuifer.
He is preceded in death by his siblings, Jack Shomo, Edmund (Rebecca) Frydel and Jane Shomo
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday April 9, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp., with visitation from 2:00 p.m. until time of service.
