Charles J. LaPlena's Obituary
Charles J. LaPlena, age 84, of St. Clair, passed away August 26, 2022. He was born March 9, 1938 in Detroit to the late Carmen and Pauline LaPlena. He married Dolores Miller on October 10, 1959.
He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army's Berlin Brigade.
Charles worked for MichCon for over 30 years as a service technician and boiler operator. He was very proud to be 100% Sicilian. He enjoyed gardening and fishing very much. He was very strong in his faith and family life. Charles was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Clair.
He is survived by his loving wife; Dolores LaPlena and his children; Kevin (Dawn) LaPlena and Kathleen (Stephen) Peters. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Michael (Sarah) LaPlena, Rachel (Kevin) Toth, Nicole (Tyler) Troutman, Rebecca LaPlena, Sarah LaPlena, Elisabeth (Peter) Pizzo, Levi Peters, and Noah Peters, and great-grandchildren; Sophia, Felix, Cecelia and Cecelia along with many relatives and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 2 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Clair. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, St. Clair. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. A rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening.
